Little Hawaii Car Rental Company - Terms and Conditions
Rental Rate. The daily rental rate is for a 24-hour period with a 2-hour grace period. The renter will be charged 1/3 the daily rate for each of the two hours after the grace period. After three hours, additional daily rate will be charged. After 24 hours, late fees will again be charged.
Payment Methods. We gladly accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. We also accept cash if accompanied by a credit card. We do not accept personal checks, money orders or cashier’s checks.
International Customers. International drivers are welcome, and must present a foreign driver’s license and passport at the delivery of the vehicle.
Rental Requirements. All drivers must present a valid Driver’s License and credit card in their own name. All drivers must have a safe driving record with no DUIs or other major violations within the past 5 years. All drivers may be subject to a DMV check. Full coverage insurance is required on all vehicles and must be verified by renter prior to rental.
Vehicle Care. Little Hawaii takes great pride in delivering finely detailed vehicles to our renters. It is expected that the vehicle be returned in a non-damaged condition.
Driver Age. Little Hawaii will be glad to rent vehicles to drivers 21-25 years old for an additional $25/day.
Reservation Deposit. The entire reservation fee will be charged in order to confirm a reservation.
Security Deposit. All rentals require an advance credit card authorization of $1,000. This deposit is to protect against incidental damage, misuse of the vehicle, and/or other items listed below. The credit card will only be pre-authorized, and no charges will be incurred unless the vehicle is damaged or misused.
Insurance. All drivers must carry their own liability and physical damage policy and must verify with their insurance carrier that coverage is provided for the vehicle to be rented.
Unauthorized Repairs. No repairs of any kind, no matter how small or severe, may be done to the vehicle without written approval of the management. If a repair is done without approval, the renter will be fully responsible for any and all additional repair work that might be necessary in order to properly repair the vehicle and bring it back to the pre-rental condition.
Additional Drivers. An additional driver is welcome for an additional $10/day fee (legal spouses are free). This additional driver must be over 25, and must also show a valid Driver’s License, credit card and insurance documentation at the time of the rental. This additional driver is under the same obligations and responsibilities as the primary driver.
Pets & Animals. No pets or other animals are allowed inside or on the vehicle at any time. If the vehicle is returned with pet hair or other remains, an additional cleaning and deodorizing charge of at least $250 will be charged from the deposit.
Damage. The renter is liable for all damage to the vehicle while rented. By purchasing one of our insurance products, this liability is limited to the deductible offered with each product.
Early Returns. No refunds or credits will be issued for early returns.
Weekend & Holiday Rentals. A 3-day minimum reservation is required to guarantee a weekend (Friday-Saturday or Saturday-Sunday) or holiday rental. The renter is welcome to reserve a vehicle for one or two days, but if another renter reserves the vehicle for 3 or more days, their rental may be given priority, in which case the vehicle of choice may not be available. We reserve the right to refund the reservation within a 72-hour period if no replacement vehicle is available.
Prohibited Uses. Our vehicles may not be used: by anyone not licensed to drive or whose Driver’s License has been suspended, revoked, or restricted; by anyone who has had a DUI in the past 5 years; for any illegal purpose or in connection with any illegal activity; for hire, or to carry persons or property for hire; to push or tow anything; to exceed any posted speed limits; in any speed test, speed contest, race, rally, speed endurance contest, demonstration, or on or near any racetrack or road course; to teach anyone to drive; on any unpaved surfaces; or in any promotional activities without prior approval. In the event of a violation of these Prohibited Uses, we reserve the right to remotely disable and retrieve the vehicle.
Refunds. Little Hawaii does not offer refunds either during or after a vehicle is rented. However, at our discretion we may offer store credit for future rentals.
Return Appointment. The return appointment is to be scheduled during normal business hours of 8am to 8pm. If it is requested that the vehicle be returned before or after this period, an after hours fee of $25 will be charged.
Smoking. Little Hawaii has a strict NO-SMOKING policy for all vehicles. There is to be NO SMOKING inside any vehicles at any time. If the interior of the vehicle smells like smoke when it is returned, a cleaning and deodorizing fee of $250 will be charged for a deep cleaning of the interior in an attempt to remove the smell.
Cleaning. If the vehicle is returned with excessive sand, dirt or mud in the interior, a cleaning fee of at least $25 will be charged.
Fuel Requirements. Each vehicle will be delivered with a full tank of PREMIUM grade (92+ octane) gasoline. If the vehicle is returned with less than a full tank, the renter may be charged 150% of the current PREMIUM gasoline price to fill up the tank. Only PREMIUM unleaded gasoline is to be used in the vehicles. If a lesser grade of fuel is used, a $500 charge will be assessed.
Off-road Driving. No vehicle is to be taken off of paved surfaces, including sand, dirt, or gravel. A GPS sensor will notify Little Hawaii immediately if the vehicle is taken off the paved surface. A fine of $500 will be charged if the vehicle is ever taken off paved surfaces. Upon pick-up, if there are signs that the vehicle has been driven on a surface other than pavement, the renter will be charged a $500 fee, as well as for any necessary repairs to the vehicle.
Speeding. Little Hawaii will receive an alert if a vehicle is exceeding local speed limits at “reckless driving” speeds, at which time the renter will be contacted and notified of the alert. If a second speeding alert is received, Little Hawaii reserves the right to remotely disable any vehicle if any terms of this contract are violated. In this event, the entire rental fee is forfeited to Little Hawaii, and the additional cost of retrieving, towing, and/or otherwise obtaining the vehicle will be deducted from the renter’s security deposit.
Cancellations. Upon making a reservation, Little Hawaii will charge the renter’s credit card for 100% of the total rental cost. If the renter cancels or reschedules the reservation more than 10 days before the delivery date, this total will be refunded less a $115 processing fee. If the renter cancels or reschedules less than 10 days in advance and more than 72 hours in advance, this total, less a $115 processing fee, will be issued to the renter as “store credit” and may only be applied to the rescheduled rental or future rentals. If the renter cancels or reschedules less than 72 hours before the delivery, a cancellation fee of 100% of the total rental cost will be charged. At our discretion, the cancellation and rescheduling fees may be waived for special circumstances determined by our management.
Delivery. If the vehicle is delivered to, or picked up from, a location within 5 miles of Waikiki, delivery is free. If the location is between 5 and 12 miles from Waikiki a one-time delivery fee of $25 will be charged. All deliveries more than 12 miles from Waikiki will be charged a one-time delivery fee of $50. We do not deliver outside of the Waikiki/Honolulu area for rentals less than 2 days.
Pick-up Appointment. A request to change the pick-up appointment must be made within 48 hours of the appointment, otherwise an additional transportation fee of up to $25 may be incurred.
Tickets. The renter is responsible for any parking or speeding tickets, or any other traffic violations. The renter is responsible for paying any and all penalties, towing or impound costs, or other associated costs of violations of local laws.
Key Replacement. If a key is lost or damaged, a $250 fee will be charged for each key. If a replacement key needs to be delivered to the renter, a $25 delivery fee will be charged for Waikiki/Honolulu, $50 for most other areas, and $75 for North Shore/Laie area.
Contract Violations. Little Hawaii reserves the right to remotely disable any vehicle if any terms of this contract are violated. In this event, the entire rental fee is forfeited to Little Hawaii, and the additional cost of retrieving, towing, and/or otherwise obtaining the vehicle will be deducted from the renter’s security deposit.
